The Toy Run 2019
On Sunday December 8th John of Agility Van Lines entered the The TOY RUN 2019 to bring joy and serve sick and underprivileged kids all over. All proceeds benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is one of the region’s leading pediatric hospitals, offering a comprehensive scope of healthcare services and programs in a child-friendly atmosphere. The Boys & Girls Clubs mission is to enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
An estimated 2,500 bikers, police escorts, sponsors, entertainment, and food vendors participated to make the event hugely successful and fun. 2 semi-trucks were filled with toys, and each participant donated $20-$30 dollars.
John has been participating in the event for the past 5 years and looks forward to meeting up with people, checking out the bikes, waving to onlookers, and best of all helping the less fortunate. He’s learned there’s power in numbers and community, and that a common purpose brings people closer together and makes differences less important. He notes that usually the different bike clubs don’t get along, but during this event it doesn’t matter whether you are independent or riding with a group – everyone gets along! He says “sometimes it takes an event like this to show that affiliations do not matter – they were all there for the same reason – and there was a kind of unity.”
